These terms apply to use of the DefenceTax website. DefenceTax is a trading name of Accountants Plus Pty Ltd. Additional terms may apply when you engage us for a particular tax service.
General information only
Website content is general information and is not personal tax, legal or financial advice. Examples may not apply to your duties, evidence or circumstances, and tax law or administrative practice can change. Obtain advice for your own position before relying on an example.
Professional engagement
Browsing this site, downloading a resource or submitting a general enquiry does not by itself create a professional engagement or appoint us as your tax agent. The agreed scope, responsibilities and authority are confirmed through the applicable booking, Express Tax, engagement or payment journey.
Client responsibilities
If you engage us, you are responsible for providing accurate, complete and timely information, disclosing relevant circumstances, reviewing documents and responding to reasonable questions. You should keep supporting records and tell us promptly if supplied information changes or an error is found.
Fees and payment
Scope and fees are confirmed through the service journey that applies to your work. Website descriptions or examples do not replace the fee and payment information presented for your selected service or subsequently agreed with you. We do not state cancellation, refund or timing rules here where they have not been separately confirmed.
Third-party services
Some operational booking, payment and lodgement links use systems on another domain, including PoliceTax infrastructure configured for DefenceTax. Those services can have their own terms, privacy practices, availability and technical requirements. A link does not make us responsible for every aspect of an external system outside our control.
Intellectual property
Accountants Plus Pty Ltd owns, or is licensed to use, the original text, graphics, branding and other material published on this site. You may view or print material for personal reference, but must not reproduce, republish or commercially exploit it without permission unless Australian law allows that use.
Acceptable use
You must not misuse the website, attempt unauthorised access, introduce malicious code, interfere with availability, submit unlawful or deceptive material, impersonate another person, or use forms and services in a way that harms other users, our systems or third parties.
Liability and non-excludable rights
To the extent permitted by law, we do not guarantee that general website content is complete for every circumstance or that access will always be uninterrupted. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies a guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
Victorian law
These website terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. Subject to any non-excludable right to bring a proceeding elsewhere, disputes about website use are subject to the courts and tribunals having jurisdiction in Victoria.
